Launch

On October 19, 2005 at 11:05 am, the Titan 4B launched from Space Launch Complex-4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg AFB carrying a classified payload from the National Reconnaissance Office. The Titan 4B is a $411 million dollar vehicle and is the last of more than 500 other missiles carrying the Titan name. The Titan program was born 50 years ago to develop a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile, which eventually morphed into a launch vehicle for astronauts and satellites. Several members of the Deragon team had the unique opportunity to witness and experience this breathtaking event first hand…the perks of living on California’s Central Coast!
